The 12th Annual Accounts Payable 2013 Conference & Expo is an AP membership meeting focused strictly on education, automation, leadership and process improvements for the accounts payable function.
Portland, Maine (PRWEB) July 26, 2013
Chris Doxey, CAPP, CCSA, CISA, executive director of IOFM’s Controller’s Certification Program, will lead “Detecting and Preventing Accounts Payable Fraud,” one of several concurrent workshops taking place on day one of the 12th Annual Accounts Payable 2013 Conference & Expo. Scheduled for Oct. 21-24, 2013, at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas, NV, AP Expo 2013 is produced by the Institute of Finance & Management (IOFM), a business unit within Diversified Business Communications. The event's keynote address will be given by motivational speaker Andy Core. Attendees may register for AP Expo 2013 here. Among the professional education opportunities at AP Expo 2013 will be the Form 1099 Certification Bootcamp and AP Certification Workshop, as well as the related certification exams.
"Entrusted with shepherding our new Controller’s Certification Program—the first ever in the industry—Chris Doxey is an integral member of our team here at IOFM," said RD Whitney, executive director of IOFM. "We look forward to the information and best-practices Chris shares at this very important workshop at our annual AP Expo."
A robust accounts payable agenda drives AP Expo 2013, the only AP membership meeting strictly focused on accounts payable education and practical approaches to automation, leadership and process improvements. AP Expo 2013 welcomes Platinum Sponsor Perceptive Software, as well as a long list of sponsors at the Gold and Silver levels, too. Information on how to sponsor the AP Expo 2013 is available.
Doxey’s workshop will cover best-practices in detecting and preventing fraud—e.g., compliance screening, TIN matching, supplier master validation, positive pay, positive payee, reverse positive pay, ACH debit blocks, and ACH debit filters. ACFE’s Report to the Nations on Occupational Fraud & Abuse has found the typical organization loses 5 percent of its revenues to fraud each year. Furthermore, approximately 34 percent of all companies reported some instance of fraud against them within the last two years, according to a recent benchmarking study from IOFM. In IOFM’s study, occupational fraud cases had a median loss of $140,000, and more than one-fifth caused losses of at least $1 million.
Others will join Doxey in presenting a series of concurrent workshops on the event’s first day:
