West Orange, NJ --

West Orange Mayor Robert Parisi told residents in a reverse 911 call Sunday evening the township is making progress in returning the town to normalcy, but there’s still plenty of work to be done.

Parisi said the 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew in effect in the township for safety concerns since Thursday will continue until further notice.

The mayor said the township and PSE&G officials have been “touring areas of the township,” adding the company will work all night and all day until power is restored.

Parisi also announced:

· Many township gas stations are now open. However, he said because of the curfew, the township is strictly enforcing the 6 a.m. opening. Any cars parked earlier in lines at gas stations are subject to ticketing and will be towed. Township police, he said, will “maintain an orderly line” at the stations.
· Most polling stations will be open and have power. Residents will be kept updated if there are plans to move polling stations but, Parisi said, residents “should plan to vote at their normal locations.”
More voting and poll information will be released on Monday.
· The shelter at the Liberty Middle School, 1 Kelly Dr., is “for West Orange residents only.” Residents should bring blankets and pillows, as well as any items for personal needs” to the shelter. Pets are not allowed.
· Regularly scheduled garbage pickup has resumed in the township. The township recycling center is now open from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.
· Residents should place storm-related debris at the curb. However, residents should not place tree trunks and full trees at the curb for pickup.
· Jitney service is suspended until further notice. Reported by Patch 12 hours ago.
