Croydon -- *ADVERTISEMENT FEATURE* Christmas preparations in Croydon this year look to be full of hustle and bustle, starting with the Christmas lights celebration on15th November. The lights are due to be switched on outside the Whitgift and Centrale shopping centres in North End by Eastenders star Laila Morse, who plays Mo Harris in the soap. Laila will be accompanied by the rest of the cast as well as Croydon mayor, Councillor Eddie Arram. It is hoped that shoppers will be attracted to one of the main shopping centres south of London that day by an afternoon of free street entertainment of circus acts, stilt walkers and Christmas puddings on roller-skates! Visitors to the Croydon shopping centresext will have five weeks of entertainment, organised by Croydon Business Improvement District (BID). There is to be more street entertainment and lots of musical events, culminating in a Light Night event on 13 December. Even those who have resolved to buy all their Christmas presents online to take the stress out of Christmas and the weight off their shoulders, will be lured to the Croydon shopping centres for the sheer entertainment and enjoyment. It is guaranteed to get Christmas shoppers away from their laptops to buy decorations, soak up the atmosphere and try out a wide variety of corner sofas for themselves (even if they won't purchase furniture until the January sales)! There will be so much for visitors to experience with all the celebrations in Croydon this year that there will be no time to sit around at home curled up on a comfy chair, and they can still browse for those extra presents when they get home. This year's annual pantomime at the Fairfield Halls is to be Jack and the Beanstalk. Laila Morse is to play the part of the Fairy and alongside her will be real live giant, 31-year-old Neil Fingleton, standing at seven feet seven inches and the tallest British-born man in the UK. Everything is laid on at the Whitgift and Centrale, with a large variety of international cuisine to sample. There are various Christmas meal offers, a wide variety of restaurants and luxury hotels all with large discounts – and lovely views over the Thames just over nine miles from the Croydon Centre. With Christmas shopping celebrations lasting over five weeks, the only thing busy shoppers will finally want to do is to enjoy Christmas and Boxing day curled up one of the wide variety of corner sofasext, indulging in delicious chocolates, festive wine and mince pies while watching the Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special!
