San Rafael, CA --

Blue Angels + Bluegrass + Boating + Baseball = a whole lot of potential gridlock throughout the Bay Area, particularly in Marin.

The Golden Gate Bridge Highway & Transportation Districtext is telling motorists to expect heavy delaysext on the bridge this weekend as a result of the plethora of events happening in town, including Fleet Weekext, the America's Cup World Series of racesext, the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festivalext and the San Francisco Giants' first two Major League playoff games. The loaded lineup of events also includes the opening weekend of the 35th Mill Valley Film Festivalext, which kicked off Thursday night with a star-studded first nightext that featured a dark comedyext and a film adaptation of Jack Kerouac's classic American novel, extOn the Roadext.

Golden Gate Transit is increasing service of its 4 and 10 bus lines, which run beteen southern Marin and San Francisco. Golden Gate Ferry is also increasing service to accommodate the Giants games, though return service directly from AT&T Park on Saturday night is already sold out.

District officials have also posted the Golden Gate Bridge's lane configurationsext for the weekend so motorists can know when their direction of travel will have the most lanes available.

In addition, National Park Service officials are recommending that visitors to its facilities in Marin use public transit to get there. "Conzelman Road or Fort Baker in the Marin Headlands will be congested, and parking management in place as needed throughout the event weekend," the agency said in an advisory.

"As in past years, many access roads will be closed to vehicle traffic for visitor safety once they are at capacity, and some park areas will be closed to protect wildlife, sensitive habitat, and historic structures," according to the agency.

"It will take extra planning and patience to visit Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) this weekend," Alexandra Picavet, spokesperson for the National Park Service, said in a statement. "The National Park Service is working to accommodate event spectators while also protecting the amazing natural and cultural resources in its care."
